DIY Sessions - Video Workshops

Welcome to the DIY sessions. In these video workshops I will show you my approach to different drumsounds in the studio and give you highly detailed insights into the style, sound and recording process. Each video includes performances on the drums an overview of the specific setup, my approach to playing and treating the drums as well as in-depth explanation of the different types of processing, plug-ins and mixing techniques I’m using to maximize the sound. My goal is to give you creative inspiration to help you create your own sounds that stand out.

Let's get into the vibes! With only six microphones, I try to combine the mix of vintage vibes with modern punch. I show which microphones I used to record the drums, we take a look at the instruments and I show the treatment in my DAW in great detail.

In this video I show how I record 80s drums with a modern day approach. We take a look at the drums, go into detail about microphones and preamps and pay special attention to the treatment in the box.
